Black Side Rail
Lateral locating part for the Skyscreen sensor; keeps the measurement geometry consistent.
The black side rail holds the Skyscreen sensor's lateral position on the standard rail. It looks like a plastic strip, but it is an accuracy part: consistent screen spacing and attitude set the velocity accuracy, and a sideways shift or tilt changes the light path the bullet actually crosses. Replace a bent or lost side rail with the factory part rather than improvising one. It fits without tools. Sold as a replacement part for Skyscreen III, for use with Oehler's standard 4 ft rail and tripod system.
Overview
Every part of the mounting system defines the measurement geometry. The main rail sets the spacing of the three screens along the line of fire; the side rail sets each screen's position and attitude across it. If a screen shifts or tilts, the bullet crosses away from the designed light path, the trigger instant no longer matches the nominal plane, and shot-to-shot repeatability falls. Repeatability is the basis of ammunition consistency testing, so the side rail counts as an accuracy part: replace it with the factory part when bent, cracked or lost. It fits and removes without tools. Black, for Oehler's standard 4 ft rail and tripod system.
