Skyscreen III Case

Polycarbonate replacement body, with or without lens; keeps the factory optical geometry after a swap.

The Skyscreen III case comes with lens or without, for replacing a damaged sensor body or stocking as a range spare. The polycarbonate withstands muzzle blast up to .50 BMG, and the single 1/4"-20 mounting screw means a swap needs no special tools. If the lens is intact and only the body is damaged, the no-lens version costs less; if the lens is cracked or scratched too, take the version with lens. Either way the factory optical geometry is preserved. A homemade or substitute body changes the light path and makes the rated accuracy meaningless.

Overview

The sensor body sits in front of the muzzle and is the most exposed part of the system: muzzle blast, ricochet fragments, transport knocks and range handling all cause cracks or distortion. Oehler therefore sells the case as a separate spare rather than writing off the whole screen. The molded polycarbonate tolerates .50 BMG blast, but damage still accumulates. The no-lens case suits a cracked body with a sound lens, at lower cost; the with-lens case covers a damaged lens as well. Mounting stays the original single 1/4"-20 screw, so replacement happens at the range. Use the factory case because it defines the optical geometry; a substitute alters the light path and trigger behavior.

Features

Two versions to match the damage

No-lens version saves cost when the lens is fine; with-lens version when the lens is damaged too.

Impact-resistant polycarbonate

Withstands .50 BMG muzzle blast, so it can sit in front of large-caliber muzzles.

Single screw, no special tools

Replaced at the range; no need to send the screen in.

Keeps the factory optical geometry

The case defines the light path and trigger behavior; only the factory part keeps the rated accuracy.

With lens and without

The lens is a separate, removable part. If only the body is damaged, the no-lens version is enough.

Back to a complete screen

Case, lens and diffuser form the whole light path; rated accuracy holds only when all three are factory parts.
